Being an IMPD Reserve Police Officer is truly an adventure of a lifetime.  It can be a highly rewarding experience in many ways.  However, it is significant commitment, a great responsibility and not for everyone.

This section will help you determine whether you qualify to become an IMPD Reserve Police Officer and whether this opportunity will be right for you.

Start the process by completing an “online interest card” and attending an orientation meeting. Scroll to the bottom of this page for a link to the Online Interest Card.  It is important to keep your contact information current, so submit a new Online Interest Card if you change your address, telephone or email information!

There are periodic orientation meetings in different locations of the city.
The next orientation is:
February 20 @ 7pm
Drury Inn
8180 N. Shadeland Ave.

The orientation session lasts approximately 90 minutes.  No reservation is required, and there are no exams.  Appropriate business casual attire is fine.  Bring materials to take notes.

At the orientation, you will learn more about the IMPD Reserve Program, including benefits, requirements, the application process, and the academy.  You will also have the opportunity to ask questions, sign-up for a ride-along, and learn how to participate in our Pre-Academy Readiness (PAR) fitness program.
